Inclusive Watersports Day in Dale
There is a fantastic opportunity to attend an Inclusive Watersports Day at Windswept Watersports in Dale with the opportunity to try Paddle Ability, Sea Swimming and ‘Rockpooling’ for people with Mobility Limitations and or neurodiverse conditions.
What makes this session inclusive –
Private use of a hired local hall so that there is additional space to get changed and disabled changing facilities. There will also be hot drinks available in the hall.
We have chosen Dale as the location as they have a Hoist to aid people getting in and out of the water
Windswept have Adaptive equipment to aid us on our Water Based Sessions for example Giant Paddle Boards
Staff trained to use this equipment, the hoist and on transfers
Wheelchairs x 2

Starfish class celebrating Children in Need
Message from our boxing coach Christopher McEwen :
It doesn’t matter what club you are from or where your club is, let us celebrate you to inspire more clubs and communities to become inclusive.
I will start it off! My name is Chris McEwen, I’m ex forces. I’m chairman of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Amateur Boxing Club and Great Britain Disability Boxing.
I have bipolar and CRPS ( chronic, regional, pain, syndrome) in my right leg, so it feels like I have pins and needles in my leg and foot 24 hrs of the day. My toes go purple and in the night, it feels like it’s on fire.
Boxing and my community has changed and saved my life, I’m surrounded by the best team that helps put on these different boxing programs.
From amateur, inclusion, schools, police, armed forces, Parkinson’s, residential , BoxWise London, and in the new year Duke of Edinburgh and Sandy Bear a children’s bereavement Charity.
So if you’re coach, club or you’re interested in inclusion because it effects you… I can promise you the life you help change will also be your own.
Kind Regards
Chris McEwen

October is AAC awareness month
Augmentative and Alternative Communication AAC helps people by supporting or replacing their speech. AAC is about providing communication strategies and aids to support people when they cannot rely on their speech. Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) help children and adults with complex communication needs to find the right AAC.
Communication aids that ‘talk’ are sometimes called Voice Output Communication Aids (VOCA). But it’s not all about technology! Picture symbols on paper, alphabet charts and signing are all forms of AAC.
The AAC Team gave a presentation in Glangwilli hospital today. See below for pictures….

Caudwell Children is excited to announce the launch of our Get Sensory Packs! We’ve listened to our families who told us that occupying their children, finding appropriate and safe toys and the money to provide their children with the equipment they would like is even more difficult than usual at the moment.
In response to this, we have created The Get Sensory Pack to provide affordable sensory equipment to support disabled children during this especially difficult time. These packs are available to children who have a confirmed disability or chronic illness.
Families can get a sensory pack for £20, which is a reduction of 80% of the cost, providing they meet the criteria.
